Dengue Virus
The dengue virus, a
member of the genus Flavivirus of the family Flaviviridae, is
an arthropode-borne virus that includes four different serotypes (DEN-1, DEN-2,
DEN-3, and DEN-4).[1,2]( dengue 1) DV,
like those other Flaviviruses is a single stranded, positive sense RNA virus
which is surrounded by an icosahedral nucleocapsid and is covered by a lipid
envelope. The mature virion is about 50nm in diameter. The genome is 10.7 kb in
length with a single long open reading frame that is translated as a
polyprotein of about 3388 amino acids. The complete genome sequence is known
for all four serotypes of DV. (Zhang et al.,
2003; Kuhn et al., 2002; ` Leitmeyer et al., 1999) Nepal
